ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು “ಕಾಮರೂಪಿ” ಎಂದು ಗುರುತಿಸುವ ಇವರು ʼಕುದುರೆಮೊಟ್ಟೆʼ ಮತ್ತು ʼಒಂದು ತೊಲ ಪುನುಗುʼ ಕೃತಿಗಳ ಕರ್ತೃ. ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರ ವಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇವರು ಎಂ ಎಸ್ ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ ಅಥವಾ ಚುಟುಕಾಗಿ ಎಂ ಎಸ್ ಪಿ. ಕೋಲಾರದ ಕಠಾರಿ ಪಾಳ್ಯ ಶಾಲೆಯಿಂದ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಸೆಂಟ್ರಲ್‌ ಕಾಲೇಜಿಗೆ ಬಂದ ಎಂ ಎಸ್ ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ ಅಸ್ಸಾಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತು ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಧ್ಯಾನಿಸಿದವರು. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು, ಧಾರವಾಡ ಮತ್ತು ಗುವಾಹಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್‌ ಬೋಧಿಸಿದವರು. ಮುಂಬೈಗೆ ಬಂದು ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತನಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ಅಸ್ಸಾಮಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಆಓರಿಕಾದಲ್ಲಿ ವರ್ಣಭೇದ ನೀತಿ ಅಂತ್ಯಗೊಂಡ ಕಾಲಘಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ವರದಿ ಮಾಡಿದವರು. ಗುವಾಹಟಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಹುಟ್ಟೂರಿಗೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿರುವ ಕಾಮರೂಪಿ ಕೋಲಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ತಾವು ಬೆಳೆದ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಕುಳಿತು ಅಸ್ಸಾಮ್‌ ಮತ್ತು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಆಫ್ರಿಕಾವನ್ನು ಧ್ಯಾನಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ದೊಡ್ಡದೊಂದು ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಸಂಗ್ರಹ ಮತ್ತು ಲ್ಯಾಪ್ಟಾಪ್ನ ಮೂಲಕ ಈಗಲೂ ಸಂಚಾರಿಯೇ ಆಗಿರುವ ಕಾಮರೂಪಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಬದುಕಿನ ಯಾತ್ರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
Known to students of Kannada literature as “Kamaroopi”, he is the author of “Kudure Motte” and “Ondu Tola Punugu”. He is M S Prabhakara, MSP for short, in national and international journalist circles. He travelled from the government school in Katharipalya in Kolar to Central College in Bengaluru and ended up meditating on Kannada literature while in Assam. He taught English in Bengaluru, Dharwad and Gauhati. He moved to Mumbai to become a journalist and moved back to Assam and eventually to South Africa just as the apartheid regime was on its last leg. He has now returned to his home town Kolar, passing through Gauhati and Bengaluru on his way. At his ancestral home in Kolar he meditates on Assam and South Africa. Still a wanderer through his large collection of books and laptop, Kamaroopi has shared with us here the experiences of his journeys.
